Daniel Volman is the Director of the African Security Research Project, in Washington, DC, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Concerned Africa Scholars. He is a specialist on U.S. security policy toward Africa and U.S. military activities on the continent. He also does research and writing on the growing military involvement of China, India, and Russia in Africa and on issues related to the extraction of oil, natural gas, uranium, and other mineral resources from Africa.
