On Saturday, July 5, 2009, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta
(MEND) released a statement condemning the illegal gangster type abduction by the
JTF of a Niger Delta monarch, HRM Isaac Thikan, the Agadagba of Egbema on June 24,
2009.

The JTF responded by denying repeatedly that any such actions took place.

Today, Friday August 14, 2009, the JTF released the abducted monarch over to the
Presidential Special Adviser, Mr Timi Alaibe in Effurun, Warri where he had been
held without charges.
