For Immediate Release.

This is a final warning from the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta
(MEND) to local and foreign workers in the oil services and exploration companies to
vacate the region within the next 72 hours due to an imminent attack.

The warning also applies to greedy individuals from oil communities tempted to carry
out repair contracts on pipelines already destroyed.

Some may wonder if this warning is not the case of "crying wolf" when an element of

Hurricane Piper Alpha Devastates Chevron Oil Installations!

As forewarned, a major "Cordon and Search" operation by the Movement for the
Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) commenced today, Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at
about 2200 Hrs with devastating effects on the heavily fortified Chevron Otunana
flow station in Delta state which is currently engulfed in fire after being
overwhelmed by our fighters.

Code named "Hurricane Piper Alpha", the objective is to smoke out war criminals of
the Northern Nigerian armed forces who have taken refuge in oil installations and
give them instant jungle justice.

Violent Hurricane Batters Rivers state Oil Installations!

Hurricane Piper Alpha unleashed its fury in Rivers state today, Sunday, June 21,
2009, leaving in its wake two battered oil installations.

At about 0230 Hrs, the hurricane pounded the Shell major pipeline located at
Adamakiri before moving on to another major Shell pipeline in Kula at 0300 Hrs. Both
pipelines are located in Rivers state of Nigeria.

the military as a staging area for the jet fighters and helicopter gunships used in

In the events unfolding across the oilfields of the Niger delta, the Yar’Adua government is facing one of the most profound political crises since the civil war. The Nigerian government now confronts an insurgency - there is no other word to describe the spectacular descent into militancy and state violence since the 1990s, and most especially since the dramatic emergence of MEND in late 2005 - and in turn launched a full-scale military counter-insurgency on May 13th 2009. In the decade since the Kaiama Declaration, the region has become largely ungovernable. The events of the last two months have pushed Nigeria to a tipping point.
